The Police on Tuesday arraigned four suspects before the Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba for allegedly threatening famous Nigerian singer Tiwatope Savage, professionally called Tiwa Savage.
The Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi in Lagos, had, a week ago, arrested some persons connected to the alleged offence.
It was gathered that the failed plot was allegedly planned by Tiwa’s new domestic staff, who had been entrusted with her vital information.
The Force Criminal Investigation Department, Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, arraigned the suspects, Eniola Adeniyi, Michael Rodolphe, Donatus Osabanumonu and Idorenyi Okon on Tuesday before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun on three counts of conspiracy, a threat to life and intent to defraud.
Prosecutor Idowu Oshubure informed the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence on or before the 13th of April 2023.
The charge reads: “That you, Eniola Adeniyi, Michael Rodolphe, Donatus Osabanumonu, Idorenyi Okon, and others at large on or before the 13 of April, within the jurisdiction of Lagos, in this Honourable Court, with intent to commit the offence, fraudulently conspired among yourselves to conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, to the annoyance of one Tiwa Savage and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
“That you, on the date above within the same court jurisdiction, with intent to defraud, did fraudulently send messages to Tiwa Savage through phone number 09061665942, causing her reasonable apprehension of threat to her life, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 14(3) of the Cyber Crime Prohibition Prevention Act, 2015.”
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
After going through their case file and the consent of the prosecutor, who did not object to bail, Magistrate Olatunbosun granted the suspects bail in the sum of N300,000 each with one responsible surety in like sum. The case was then adjourned to the 31st of May 2023 for mention.
