The police have arraigned a man, Simeon Godwin, 45, for allegedly stealing 200 empty crates of beer valued at N360,000.
Godwin was arraigned on Monday before Magistrate O.O. Adeosun of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State.
The police prosecutor told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 29, 2022.
The charge read, “That you, Simeon Godwin, on January 29, 2022, around 7pm in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal 200 empty crates of 33 Lager Beer valued at N360,000, product of Nigeria Breweries, property of GPC Energy and Logistic Nigeria Limited, situated at 4B, Regina Coker Street, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (5B) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with one responsible and reliable surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till February 28, 2023, for mention.
