A 35-year-old driver, Paul Adebayo, has been remanded for allegedly stealing property to the tune of N5,549.000, in the Omole Estate area of Lagos State.

Adebayo, who was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate’s Court, is facing two counts bordering on breach of peace and stealing.

The charges read in part, “That you, Paul Adebayo, on June 15, 2022, at Oladipo Soyebo Street, Omole Estate, Ikeja, and in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal two gold bangles, three wristwatches, three tone necklaces, four gold chains, gold ring with diamond, all property valued at N5,549,000, of one Adebayo Omowunmi.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The prosecutor, Josephine Ikhayere, said the offenses were punishable under Sections 168(d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The matter was adjourned till September 20 – 22, 2022, for trial.
