An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced Nurudeen Nasiru to life imprisonment for introducing porn to his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter and sexually assaulting her.

The convict committed the offences on February 23, 2021, about 3.45pm, on Aminu Street, Alapere, Ketu.

Justice Abiola Soladoye held that the prosecution had proven the two-count charge of defilement and indecent treatment of a child against the convict beyond reasonable doubt. She held that the convict sexually assaulted the survivor through the anus and also introduced her to pornographic video.

She said: “The defendant is a neighbour who goes to the room of the survivor and open his phone to show her pornographic videos and afterwards force her to practice what he had shown her on his phone.

“The defendant, in his confessional statement, admitted to have had sexual intercourse with the survivor.”

Justice Soladoye consequently convicted Nasiru of the two count charge.

“On count one of sexual assault by penetration, the defendant is sentenced to life imprisonment.

On count two of indecent treatment of a child, the defendant is sentenced to seven years imprisonment. The sentence would run concurrently,” she said.

Justice Soladoye also ordered that the convict’s name be registered in the government’s Sexual Offenders Register.
