The National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has issued a warning to its members regarding unscrupulous individuals posing as NBA help desk officers on social media platforms, particularly Instagram.

These fraudulent actors have been advising members to make direct payments of the Bar Practicing Fee (BPF) to unauthorized accounts or via fraudulent links. One of the identified fraudulent numbers is +234 810 820 8068.

The NBA emphasizes that the only official means for payment of the Bar Practicing Fee is through the official NBA Portal, which can be accessed at https://portal.nigerianbar.org.ng/login. Members are strongly advised not to make direct payments into any account or via any link other than the official NBA portal to avoid falling victim to cyber criminals.

To ensure prompt services are rendered to all members of the Association who may need to access the Secretariat, the Bar Services Department will be open on Friday, March 29, 2024. In case of any inquiries, members are encouraged to contact the following Membership Officers:

  • Ezekiel: 07037000903
  • Bayo: 08028833422
  • Glory: 08036792832
  • Sime: 08099246592

The NBA General Secretary, Adesina Adegbite, urged members to avoid falling victim to cyber criminals by engaging only with the provided official channels.

This warning comes as the NBA continues its efforts to combat fraud and protect the interests of its members in the legal profession.
