Man Arraigned for Stealing Lagos Firm’s N1.9m Property

A 28-year-old man, Muhammed Abdul-Lamid, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, for allegedly breaking into the Dohney Service Limited Company’s office and stealing properties worth N1.9m.

Abdul-Lamid is facing three counts bordering on felony with burglary and theft preferred against him by the police.

The prosecutor, John Christopher, said the defendant committed the offences on December 26, 2022.

He said offences were punishable under Sections 411, 307(c) and 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The charges read in part, “That you, Muhammed Abdul-Lamid, and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal four units of Panasonic A/C valued at N1,610,400; one big generator valued at N280,00, and two generator batteries valued at N100,000; total value of N1,990,400 and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

The defence counsel, Raji Lateef, applied for bail in the most liberal terms.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O.O Ogunjobi granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum who are gainfully employed and possess National Identification Numbers.
