Don’t Trust PDP, Lawan Warns Nigerians As Gombe Governor (APC) Plans To Recruit 3,700 PAs

Senate President Ahmad Lawan yesterday warned Nigerians not to believe in the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the party had nothing to show for its 16 years in power.

Lawan’s comments came on the heels of Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s statement that he would recruit 3,700 youthful personal assistants (PAs) across the 11 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the launching of Gombe North Senatorial District’s empowerment programme by Senator Sa’idu Alkali in Gombe town, Lawan said it was disheartening that the 16-year reign of the PDP was a waste.

The Senate President, who was a PDP member and senator until 2015, regretted that the country’s wheel of progress was halted under the PDP.

Addressing a crowd in Hausa at the empowerment programme at All Progressive Congress (APC) Square in Gombe town, Lawan said: “The PDP ruled the country for 16 years, deceiving Nigerians. The money they got during their reign was mind-blowing. But they did nothing to better the lives of Nigerians. As a matter of fact, the bulk of the money ended up in private pockets.

“The performance the APC-led administration in the last six years far outweighs what the PDP claimed to have done in the last 16 years.”

He hailed Governor Yahaya and Senator Alkali for their social welfare programmes to the people of the state.

Lawan noted that if the Executives and Legislature worked together towards improving the wellbeing of the citizenry, poverty and criminality would reduce across the nation.

Yahaya said the 3,700 PAs he plans to recruit would serve as the link between him and the people at the grassroots of the state.

The governor hailed Alkali for living up to the expectation of the people of the Senatorial district through various projects which are directly touching their lives.
