Court Remands Seven Yoruba Nation Agitators For Invading Ibadan Radio Station

Seven Yoruba Nation agitators have been remanded in the Abolongo Correction Centre in Oyo State by an Ibadan Magistrate court for invading a radio station.

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, the suspects stormed the Amuludun station of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Moniya, Akinyele local government area.

Noah Atoyebi, Adeleke Gbenga AbdulGaniyu Mustaoha, and Ifagbola Elijah are the suspects charged with conspiracy, treason, and armed robbery on four counts.

Oladapo Ajala and Rasheed Jimoh are two others.

On Monday, June 19, 2023, the accused were arraigned in Ibadan Magistrate Court on a four-count charge, but no plea was taken.

Magistrate P.O. Adetuyi remanded them to Abolongo Correction Centre and adjourned the case until September 13th, 2023.

The case file would be duplicated and given to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consultation, according to Magistrate Adetuyi.

It should be noted that the suspects allegedly hijacked the Amuludun station’s airwaves and collected all the valuables, including the mobile handsets of the broadcast team on duty, rendering them unable to interact with the outside world.

The suspected agitators took control of the station and began broadcasting live.

The team’s leader went straight to the TV studio and was on the air for nearly an hour.

“We have been sent to inform the public that the Yoruba people have been liberated.”

No more harassment from the police or the army. We are writing to demand the release of our imprisoned brothers and sisters. We are not here to harass or harm anyone. “We are here to promote peace,” the commander stated.
