There may be conflict brewing in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as there is a conflicting court order concerning the party’s South-South zonal congress.
Justice Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja refused to grant an ex parte order stopping the Congress scheduled to be held in Calabar on Saturday.
The judge refused to grant the prayer filed by Desmond Owei and Osahon Okonedo as plaintiffs with the the PDP National Chairman, Iliya Damagum, the PDP South-South National Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih, and the Peoples’ Democratic Party as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd defendants respectively.
The suit sought to stop the defendants from calling for and holding the South South Zonal Elective Congress in Calabar.
However, the presiding judge declined to grant the request instead ordering both parties to maintain status quo as of 20th February 2025 while adjourning the motion to the 4th of March 2025 for hearing of the pending motion on notice.
