Code Of Conduct Tribunal Suspends Kano Anti-Graft Boss

The Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday ordered the suspension of the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission, Muhyi Magaji, over allegations of misconduct and breach of public officer’s code of conduct.

Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar granted the application for his suspension, directing the accused person to step aside from his position, pending the determination of the case.

Magaji who is facing charges ranging from alleged conflict of interest to false asset declaration, and accepting of bribes, was arraigned in Abuja on Thursday,

The Kano State government had earlier dragged the Federal Government to the State High Court over what it described as harassment and intimidation of the Commission’s Chairman by three Federal agencies.

The case filed by the Kano State government against the Federal governments was sequel to separate invitations sent to the State’s Anti-graft body and its officials by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Code of Conduct Bureau, to answer questions over the administration of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission from 2011 to date.

The case has been adjourned to May 7, 2024 for hearing.
