ADR Skills Is An Important Tool In The 21st Century Lawyer’s Dispute Resolution Tool Box — Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN

Eminent Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the President of Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) has advised the NBA ABA branch Young Lawyers Forum that for a successful dispute resolution practice in the 21st century, the young lawyer must be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills of all the processes of dispute resolutions included in what he called the ADR spectrum.

Chief Obegolu made this call in his Keynote address during the 2022 retreat of the YLF organized by the Young lawyers on the 7th of May, 2022 at the Aba Bar Centre.

He advised the leadership of NBA Aba branch to work with the judiciary in Abia state to extend a branch of the Abia state Multi Door Court to the commercial nerve centre of the state and the South East.

He pledged that as Chair of the Nigerian Chambers of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre, he will work with the Aba Chamber of Commerce to set up the Aba Chamber of Commerce DRC to facilitate the efficient means of resolution of commercial disputes.

The Chairman of the Branch, Betram Faotu, Esq., who chaired the session thanked the Learned Silk for being a continuing source of inspiration for junior and senior members of the profession and pledged to work with him in actualizing the establishment of both dispute resolution centres in Aba to create practice opportunities for lawyers to learn and practice their skills.

A Senior member of the branch, Chief Teddy Omeziri, thanked Chief Obegolu for the insightful presentation while promising to sponsor 10 junior lawyers in ADR certification training.
