Appeal Court Affirms Ghandi As Soun Of Ogbomoso

The Court of Appeal in Ibadan has affirmed the enthronement of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomosoland.

The appeal court ruling set aside the lower court’s judgement that earlier nullified the kingmakers’ selection and enthronement of Ghandi.

A three-member panel of justices, led by Justice Yargata Nimpar, was established to adjudicate on the ten grounds of appeal.

The earlier ruling delivered by Justice Adedokun on the petition filed by Prince Kabiru Laoye stated that due process was not followed in the selection and subsequent enthronement of Oba Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

Justice Adedokun announced that the appointment of Oba Ghandi was illegal and ordered a fresh selection process to elect a new Soun.

Dissatisfied with the high court’s ruling, the defendant petitioned the Court of Appeal.

The judgement, therefore, resolved all the controversies surrounding the selection and enthronement of Oba Ghandi as Soun of Ogbomosoland.
