Tinubu Vows To Deploy ‘Entire Machinery Of State Power’ To Secure Nigerians
President Bola Tinubu has promised that his administration will deploy the entire machinery of state power to ensure adequate security of the lives and property of the Nigerian people.
Tinubu gave the assurance while delivering a speech at the graduation ceremony of the Senior Course 45 of the Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State on Friday.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to adequately equip the Nigerian Armed Forces to enable them to discharge their responsibilities of protecting the lives and property of the citizens both internally and globally.
The President further alerted them to the sensitive nature of the present security environment, which according to him requires new strategies and practices to confront unconventional Forces.
Tinubu noted that contemporary and emerging security threats in the West African subregion demanded that member states must work together to bring peace to the Lake Chad region.
A total of 291 officers who distinguished themselves in character and learning graduated from the 48-week Senior Course 45 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in the North-Western state.
The President was accompanied by the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Also in attendance were all the service chiefs, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Among the graduating officers were 265 officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces, 12 civilians from ministries and agencies, as well as 15 others from allied African countries and Asia.
Some officers who distinguished themselves during the course received merit awards from the President, who attended the graduation for the first time since he assumed office in May.
Commenting on the international composition of graduates and participants in the course at the Command and Staff College, Tinubu expressed the urgent need for collaboration among member nations to bring about peace in the Lake Chad region, which grapples with various security challenges.
The President also believes Nigeria and the neighbouring countries in the Lake Chad region must display courage in reforming their military doctrine and practices, even as he pledged his administration’s commitment to deploying the full range of state power to ensure the adequate security of the people and their possessions.
Tinubu’s speech further underscored the significance of strengthening the capabilities of the African Armed Forces and other allied nations, acknowledging the dynamic and evolving nature of security threats.
The Senior Course of the Command and Staff College is expected to prepare these military officers for higher responsibilities, particularly in the face of current and emerging security threats.
