A group under the auspices of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN) Nassarawa State chapter has urged politicians in the country to stop raising unsubstantiated allegations against Judges.

The Chairman of MAN in Nassarawa State, Hon.Mairiga Abdullahi in a statement on Saturday, described such allegations as despicable and unwarranted.

His criticism came against the backdrop of an allegation by a group known as Concern APC stakeholders against the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu.

The MAN chairman equally cautioned the political class to desist from making comments on matters before a court of competent jurisdiction, noting that the association stands with the CJ against any intimidation.

The statement reads in part “
First and foremost both Nasarawa State High Court and Federal High Court are courts of competent jurisdiction and none can overturn the other.

Again Nasarawa State High Court had the proper jurisdiction to make the Order by the powers conferred on that court.

“The petitioner must know that once a matter is before a court it becomes subjudiced for any part to make a fallacious public comment. Where a Court of competent jurisdiction makes an order and a party is not satisfied, the only option is to appeal.

“Our CJ is a wonderful Woman of competence, unwavering achievements and unparalleled accomplishment.

“To think that being Amirul Haji designate is something else then, the petitioner is wrong. The CJ has had many opportunities of being to Haji and lesser Haji on countless times and there’s nothing special to be assigned the role of Armrul Haji, moreover it has been the long standing tradition and this shouldn’t be made an issue.

“It is our candid opinion that political issues should not be allowed to snowball to rubbish our hallowed judiciary Chambers.

‘We also think that Judiciary is the best place for any aggrieved party to ventilate his/her anger and not to smear the umpire who is unrelenting to give justice.

“This attitudes of politicians going on Media to allege unsubstantiated allegations against Judges should be stopped.

“Nasarawa State is known for its peace and harmony enjoyed by the good working relationship and synergy between Executive, Legislature and Judiciary and we shall not want anything less.

‘We stand by our Chief Judge to ensure justice is done and no amount of intimidation can sway the person of Hon.Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu, Chief Judge Nasarawa State”.
