The police have arrested six suspects in connection with an attack on the Senator Representing Kogi East in the National Assembly, Isah Echocho.

In a statement, police spokesperson in Kogi State, William Aya, said the lawmaker was attacked on Tuesday in Lokoja, the state capital, after a visit to Governor Yahaya Bello.

The Senator had visited the governor alongside Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West, Zachariah Idris of Idah Federal Constituency, Sani Egidi of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Abdulrahim Danga of Okehi/Adavi Federal Constituency, amongst others.

Echocho was said to have been attacked after he and others left the governor’s office.

The police said the arrested suspects would be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others.

The police appealed to the people of the state to remain law-abiding and continue to collaborate with security agencies on the activities of criminal elements in the state.
