The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed,  has called on Nigerians to avoid voting for politicians who play religion and tribal sentiments during campaigns.

“I urge you to ignore such people and vote for credibility, competence, character, equity, fairness and justice to save Nigeria from disintegration.”

Baba-Ahmed who made this call during a town-hall meeting with key stakeholders in Minna, Niger State, on Saturday, said any candidate that still uses religious and tribal sentiments as a campaign strategy doesn’t mean well for the country.

The vice presidential candidate stated that the past 24 years had been years of misrule by both the the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.

“Fellow victims of insecurity, corruption and other vices, we, Nigerians are the ones who have been cheated and we did not cheat, these politicians in other parties are the ones who have cheated us. The end of these terrible issues have come.

“If the APC and the PDP are better after 24 years combined of governance why are we still witnessing the challenges we are facing? Nigerians, it’s time to take back our country.”

He urged the youths to ensure they collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards and come out en-masse to vote out politicians who have outlived their usefulness but want to continue to remain in power against the interest of the citizenry.

“Vote out politicians who have nothing to cover up their lies and lack of ideas to resolve the mileage of problems Nigeria is facing.

“They will look for anything to create confusion, religious and tribal sentiments hence, Nigerians should not fall for their antics.”
