Rivers PDP Gov Candidate Dragged Before Conduct Bureau
The Code of Conduct Bureau has invited the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, to an interview at its headquarters on November 7, 2022, as part of its investigation of an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
According to the invitation letter, dated October 26, 2022, and signed by the Director of Intelligence, Investigation and Monitoring, Gwimi Sabastine, Fubara is expected to honour the invitation with the certified true copies of all acknowledgement slips, letters of appointment, promotion, records of service and payslips and bank account statements among others.
The letter read in part, “You are expected to come along with the Certified True Copies of the following documents: acknowledgement slips of all your assets declaration to the Code of Conduct Bureau from when you joined the public service to date; copies of your letter of appointment, promotion letters, records of service and payslips from April to August 2022; all documents of your buildings and landed properties both developed and undeveloped in Nigeria and abroad; details of your personal companies and businesses; details of their shares and bank account statements of all your personal bank accounts from January 2022 to date.
“This invitation is made pursuant to the mandate and powers of the Bureau as enshrined in the third schedule, Part 1, Paragraph 3(e) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended; Section 137 (a) and (b) and 138 (a) and (b) Penal Code Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990 and Section 104 of evidence Act 2011.”
Fubara’s invitation by the CCB came months after the Director, Volunteer Legal Practitioner Foundation for Morals and Values, Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nweze, petitioned it to investigate Fubara for “non/false declaration of assets, money laundering and corruption.”
