PVCs Will Get to Wards – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission is yet to decide on when to move the collection of permanent voter cards to wards as the current collection centres are the local government offices.

The Resident Electoral Commissioners on Tuesday lamented the low turnout for PVC collections as voters decried bureaucracy and stress in the collection of PVCs.

One of the National Commissioners, Mohammed Haruna, said the commission was doing everything possible to ensure that the cards got to everyone who registered.

Haruna said, “We will eventually scale the collection of PVCs to the ward level, but we have not decided when that will commence.

“For now, people are advised to go to the local government offices to collect their PVCs.”

A political analyst, Adekunke Akinola, urged INEC to look at more friendly ways to attract people to pick up their PVC.

Another analyst and lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, said the current arrangement was not tidy enough.

“You can’t expect me to register somewhere and then walk 100 kilometres to pick up PVC,” Ajulo said.
