The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, LPDC has written to Adekunbi Ogunde, the Partner in the Chambers of the Body of Benchers Chairman, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN to respond to Allegation of Professional Misconduct levelled against her by the Nigerian Bar Association.

This is according to a report to NBA by the Chairman of the newly reconstituted LPDC, Hon Justice Ishaq Bello (Rtd), who stated that in compliance with the LPDC rules 2020, Ms Ogunde has been served with the petition and her response is being awaited.

The NBA, in a petition to the LPDC, had called on the disciplinary body to sanction Olanipekun’s Partner, Adekunbi Ogunde, and also determine possible culpability of Chief Olanipekun himself and other partners of his firm in the case.

In a separate letter signed by NBA President, Olumide Akpata, the NBA also asked Mr Olanipekun to step down as the BOB chairman, given that the LPDC is a committee under the BOB and he cannot be the judge over his own trial.

Chief Olanipekun ignored the NBA request and expressed his displeasure over the steps taken by NBA.

Chief Olanipekun had also gone ahead to reconstitute the LPDC and appoint former FCT Chief Judge, Justice Ishaq Bello to try the NBA’s case against his partner, and also answer the question against him and his other partners.

The LPDC was reconstituted after the former Chairman Chief Emmanuel Ukala SAN and Another member, Chief Ferdinand Orbih SAN resigned from the positions citing undue interference by the Body of Benchers in LPDC determination of cases.
