The Plateau State Police Command on Thursday said it had begun investigation to unravel those behind the kidnap of a traditional ruler, Sunday Dajep, in the state.

Dajep, who is the paramount ruler of Mhiship in Pankshin Local Government Area of the state, was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday night.

Sources who spoke on condition of anonymity mentioned that the monarch was in his palace when the kidnappers stormed the area around 11pm and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Some members of the community who confirmed the kidnap of the monarch said he had not been seen since the incident happened.

The police spokesman in the state, Alabo Alfred, when contacted, also confirmed the abduction of the monarch.

According to him, officers and men of the command have been deployed to the community to carry out investigations that will lead to the arrest of the kidnappers.

The PPRO said, “Since Wednesday when the kidnap incident happened, we deployed our men and officers to the affected community immediately.

“So, we are on it to rescue the kidnapped monarch. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend those behind the act and bring them to book.”
