Police Hand Over Osinachi’s Case To Attorney-General After Autopsy

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command says it has transferred the case of Osinachi Nwachukwu, the late gospel singer, to the office of the attorney-general of the federation.

The attorney-general, as the chief law officer, is responsible for advising the government on legal matters and representing it in litigation.

It is also believed that Osinachi’s autopsy report had been released as police sought legal advice on the matter.

Josephine Adeh, FCT police PRO, refused to comment further on this but confirmed the transfer on Tuesday.

Osinachi was alleged to have been a silent victim of domestic assault from Peter, her now-embattled husband.

Peter was earlier arrested after Osinachi’s death was attributed to physical abuse inflicted on her by him.

The singer, who passed away on April 8, was initially thought to have died of throat cancer.

But associates claim it may be connected to an assault by her husband, who is being investigated by the police.

The case was transferred from the Lugbe police division to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Earlier, Amarachi Eze, Osinachi’s twin sister, narrated how Peter seized control of the deceased singer’s finances.

The twin said the singer would sometimes stay away from home while she was sick to avoid the marital trauma.

“When we were to perform a song together, Peter locked her up. People feared him. He denies her access to visit us when she comes to Enugu. Osinachi would fall sick but she’d not stay home for fear of maltreatment,” she had said.

“He beats Osinachi up. During her last childbirth, Peter locked her out in the cold with her infant. Her kid handed her a blanket from the window. Before Osinachi performs at an event, Peter claims the pay, leaving her penniless.

“Osinachi would have achieved more but he dictates where she can or can’t go. My husband, out of anger, bought me a flight ticket to go check on her but Peter was enraged that I visited without his consent. He threw me out.

“Peter lied she had cancer and chased us away when we visited her at National Hospital Abuja. I begged him to take care of Osinachi who pleaded she would contact me instead. It was an outsider that later told me she passed away.”
