The Ogun  State Police Command has debunked a report making the rounds of an alleged explosion in the Sabo area of Owode-Yewa, in Ogun West Senatorial District of the state,

Speaking with Channels Television in a telephone conversation on Tuesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola dismissed the report, saying it wasn’t true.

She said an incident has not been reported from that axis of the state after reports emerged that four people lost their lives while many were injured in the alleged explosion which reportedly occurred around the Sabo area of Owode Yewa.

Odutola also said nothing of such was reported a claim corroborated by the Divisional Police Officer in Owode Yewa

According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday when a scavenger, locally known as BolaBola, inadvertently triggered the explosion while dismantling a metal object.

“The force of the blast caused immediate casualties, with four persons reported dead at the scene,” the source said.

The source further said that numerous others sustained injuries of varying degrees and were promptly rushed to the General Hospital in Ilaro for urgent medical attention.

Local authorities and emergency responders reportedly mobilised to the scene to manage the aftermath of the explosion.

The precise cause and nature of the metal object that triggered the explosion are currently under investigation by relevant authorities.
