The command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated yesterday that operatives of the command successfully apprehended two notorious suspects linked to the syndicate, following a thorough investigation and intelligence.

She explained that on June 24, 2025, detectives extended their investigation to Aba, Abia State, where they arrested a 28-year-old female suspect, Sunshine Hart, and 38-year-old Kingsley Ekocha.

During the operation, a 24-year-old pregnant woman, Regina Sunday, was rescued from the traffickers, and is presently in protective custody. In a remarkable turn of events, the woman went into labour on June 30, 2025, and was promptly rushed to the Police Clinic in Port Harcourt, where she was safely delivered of a baby boy. Mother and child are receiving medical attention and are in stable condition.

Iringe-Koko stated: “The investigation is ongoing, with a focus on tracking down other members of this nefarious syndicate. The command is committed to dismantling this network and ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime are visited with the full weight of the law.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, OlugbengaAdepoju, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to protecting the public and upholding the rule of law.
