Police Arrest Suspects In Connection With Attack On Abia Commissioner
The Abia State Police Command has arrested suspects in connection with attack on the convoy of the state Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry on July 26, 2023, which led to the death of two personnel.
In a press statement made available to the media by Chinaka Chioma Maureen, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, and made available to the media, the command said the arrest followed a credible information on the movement of the suspects.
The police statement read: “In furtherance of investigation into the attack on the Abia State Commissioner for trade, Commerce, and Industry on the on July 27, 2023 at Samec Faulks Road, Aba, which led to the death of two police officers at about 11:30am, acting on credible intelligence, Police operatives from Abia State Police Command stormed a Hotel located in Ohanze Obingwa L.GA, Abia State.
“Consequently, three male suspects were arrested. Two revolver pistols, six rounds of 7.62x39MM Ammunition suitable for AK-47 rifles, and five rounds of 9MM Ammunition were found in their possession. Investigation into the case continues.”
It would be recalled that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu condemned the attack on the police personnel and directed for immediate investigation into the matter in order to bring the suspects to book.
