The Nigeria Police Force has taken swift action following a viral video showing officers engaging in unprofessional conduct by begging a foreign biker for money in Oyo State.

The incident, captured on camera, led to the immediate arrest of the Constabularies involved.

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, released a statement on Friday, addressing the unacceptable behavior displayed by the officers.

The statement conveyed the police authority’s strong stance against such actions, describing them as “unprofessional, unacceptable, and punishable acts.”

In the viral video, officers were seen soliciting money from a female biker touring Nigeria from the Netherlands.

The incident sparked widespread reactions on social media, prompting Adejobi to draw the attention of the Oyo State Force Command for an urgent investigation.

The statement issued by Adejobi emphasized the commitment of the police authority to discipline officers engaged in such misconduct.

It reads in part, “The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, has instituted a disciplinary procedure on the matter immediately.”

“The police authority has condemned the act and ordered that the men and their supervising Divisional Police Officer be sanctioned accordingly.”

“Such an act is unpolice and would never be tolerated in any manner.”

The Force pledged to intensify efforts in implementing the reorientation program initiated by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to address issues of this nature and reposition the Nigeria Police Force.
