FAMILY LAW, MARRIAGE & DIVORCE 16/10/2023
Ongoing Public Spat Between OAP Dotun and Estranged Wife
In a highly publicized and bitter exchange on social media, OAP Dotun and his estranged wife, Taiwo Omotayo, have engaged in a heated argument regarding the custody of their children.
The feud began on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, when Dotun alleged that Taiwo was denying him access to their daughters. He vowed to fight back against her and even brought her brother, Dbanj, into the discussion, accusing him of aiding Taiwo in keeping their children away from him.
Dotun’s Instagram post stated, “You know how much I was there for you @iambangalee when you lost your son. You know the pain of losing a child, but you are now the instrument of discord and wickedness in mine. These are my kids, not yours… The worst man you can fight is someone who is ready to die.”
In response, Taiwo took to her own Instagram to refute Dotun’s claims, asserting that he knows where his children are and has access to them. She began by apologizing to their daughters and her family for the public nature of their dispute. She also extended her apologies to her brother, D’banj, for his portrayal in the ongoing conflict.
Taiwo’s response emphasized that Dotun was being untruthful to the public and accused him of subjecting her to emotional and psychological abuse during their marriage. She also disclosed that she endured sexual abuse and forced abortions during their eight-year union, which left her traumatized. Taiwo defended her brother, D’banj, insisting that he had only been helpful to them throughout their tumultuous marriage and that he should not be dragged into their dispute.
Dotun and Taiwo Omotayo were married for eight years before their marriage ended, with Taiwo citing alleged domestic violence and forced abortions as grounds for seeking a divorce. According to her statement, they had previously agreed to a joint custody arrangement for their two children, ensuring Dotun had access to them as agreed upon.
