Five of the six commissioner-nominees forwarded to the House of Assembly, by the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa have been screened and confirmed by the lawmakers.

The five nominees cleared include Olukayode A. Ajulo SAN, Razaq Obe, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, Akinwumi Sowore and Oseni Oyeniyi, while Mrs. Omowumi Isaac was absent.

Conforming the nominees during a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, who announced the ratification of the commissioner-nominees after the adoption by the selection committee.

The House on Selection headed by the Speaker had earlier conducted a screening exercise for the nominees at the Assembly complex.

Presenting the report of the Committee, the Vice Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Speaker, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan said the nominees responded to all questions raised by the Committee in a very eloquent and explicit order.

He noted that they have a clear understanding of the positions, adding that they possess the required academic qualifications, are physically, mentally and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the task.

Earlier, the Majority leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved a motion for the report to be considered and the nominees to be confirmed as Commissioner designates, and this was seconded by Afe Felix representing Akoko North West constituency 2.

The Speaker who said the exercise is in line with the constitution, charged the new commissioner-designates to join hands with the governor to take the state to an enviable height.

Congratulating the new commissioners, the Oladiji enjoined them to contribute their quotas to the development of the state and the people.

Speaking on behalf of the new commissioner-designate, Emmanuel Igbasan, pledged not to disappoint the governor, the lawmakers and the entire citizens of the state.

He assured that it is a new dawn in the state saying that they will bring their experience to bear towards effective service delivery

It will be recalled that Aiyedatiwa forwarded the names of the commissioner-nominee to the Assembly for screening and approval.
