Former Rivers State governor, Dr. Peter Odili, has officially endorsed Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the current political leader of the state, praising him for his steadfast defence of the interests of Rivers people.

Odili made this endorsement during the commissioning of a Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of the state.

The health centre was built and donated to the Rivers State government by the Pamo Educational Foundation (PEF), founded by Odili and his family.

Addressing Governor Fubara, Odili expressed his pride in the governor’s leadership, stating, “We are proud of you. Politics is over; it is now time for governance. You have hit the ground running.”

He further acknowledged Governor Fubara’s alignment with President Tinubu’s government, particularly in the areas of education, agriculture, and health. Odili urged the governor to continue to align with the President and support his positive policies, emphasizing the importance of linking the people of Rivers State with the central government’s initiatives.

“They have asked me to tell you that you are the political leader of Rivers State. Rivers people say where you go, they will go with you; where you stand, they will stand with you. Don’t look back, stay focused, knowing that your people are behind you.”

Odili said he was moved to begin the construction of the health centre, after noticing that there had not been any health centre around the Ndoni district in the past three years.

Commissioning the facility, Governor Fubara commended Odili for embarking on and completing such a project that will be of great benefit to the people of Ndoni community.

He said: “It is an honour to be part of this historic event. Dr. Peter Odili is a private man who has returned what God has done to him. He used his resources and not the government’s resources to build such a facility for his people of Ndoni.”

He drew attention to what his administration was doing in healthcare delivery, saying he increased the quota of employment of personnel into the health sector to 1,000 persons.

The action, he noted, was because the 200 personnel he met on assumption of duty were grossly inadequate compared to the prevailing needs in the sector.
