Obaseki Begins Reconstruction Of Dilapidated Courts At Ekiadolor

The Edo State Government, has commenced the remodeling of the dilapidated Magistrate and District Customary Courts at Ekiadolor in Ovia North East Local Government Area in conformity with the Make Edo Great Again, MEGA, agenda in the state.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, represented by the Chairman of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, EDSOGPADEC, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, disclosed this while leading the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Joe Itsebaga Acha in company of the board members, on an inspection tour of facilities in the Courts.

Osifo, said that His Excellency, having taken into cognizance the regrettable state of these Courts, has given a marching order to his board to embark on the reconstruction of both the Magistrate and District Customary Courts, which were hitherto built during the colonial era in order to befit the current digital judges in the state.

He assured of timely completion of these projects to enable full commencement of Court proceedings within the confines of the laid down rules.

The Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Acha, expressed appreciation to the leadership of Governor Obaseki, saying the timely intervention of His Excellency will facilitate quick dispensation of Justice to the people as well as boosting economic activities of the locality.

He maintained that the sorry state of these Courts, prior to the approval of Mr. Governor, had hampered the innovative prowess of the judiciary workers, especially the magistrates and the presidents, in diligently carrying out their duties in the locality.

The Chief Judge said that after the completion of these projects, there would be need to have an Area Customary Court to make it a total number of three courts in the locality.

Present during the inspection tour are Hon. Mrs. Omosede Obamwonyi, representing Ovia North East, Hon Dudu Williams, representing Ikpoba Okha and Charles Aideyan Esq, representing Orhionmwon on the board.

Others are Princess Mrs. Iku Ewuare- Aimiuwu, representing Edo South, Alhaji Abdullahi Imoudagbe, representing Edo North, Mr. Daniel Enebi, representing Edo Central Senatorial Districts on the board and K.O. Agie, Director, Corporate and Legal Services among others.
