Northern Christians Urge Lalong to Reject APC Campaign DG Offer
Concerned Christians of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) have urged the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, to immediately reject his nomination as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in preparation for the 2023 general elections.
The group of Christians in the North led by Michael Atululwu, at a press briefing in Kaduna, yesterday, likened Lalong’s acceptance of the position to planning to dine with the devil.
APC presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, had, against all entreaties, shunned all Christians and settled for the former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as running mate.
While advising Lalong to drop the idea of leading the Tinubu-Shettima presidential campaign, CCNN said it received the news of the governor’s speculated acceptance of the job with every sense of betrayal, utter dismay and grave sadness.
ALSO, the Northern Christian Revivalist Movement (NCRM) has threatened to evoke the wrath of God on Lalong and other Christians, who support APC presidential candidates, for “betraying the body of Christ.”
Beside Lalong, Adams Oshiomhole, Festus Keyamo and other renowned Christians are in the campaign team of Tinubu, who refused to pick a Christian as running mate.
President of NCRM, Amos Abah, stated in Jos, yesterday, that “Lalong is an enemy of believers if he accepts the offer.”
According to Abah, the choice of a Muslim as Tinubu’s running mate already means a declaration of war against Christians, and God has promised to punish any believer who associates with “infidels”.
