Niger Governor Swears in Four New Judges
Niger State Governor, Sani Bello has sworn in two High Court Judges and two Khadis of Shariah Court of Appeal as part of efforts to reduce the workload on judges in the state.
Swearing in the judges at the Council Chamber in Minna, Bello lamented the inadequate number of Judges in the state which he described as not healthy for the state.
He said, ” I hope that with their appointment, there would be an improvement. We have always had a limited number of judges, I understand some of our Judges are overwhelmed which is not healthy. Hopefully, we will get more to reduce the workload”.
The Governor also described the appointment of the four new judges as well deserved, noting,” while, I congratulate the new Judges, be reminded of the huge task ahead. You need to know the weight of the assignment and I hope this will be of benefit to the state and the country”.
Bello commended the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Halima Abdulmalik for her efforts in ensuring the appointments of the Judges in the state.
Justice Aisha Wodu Bawa, speaking on behalf of her colleagues, assured the governor that they would do their best in serving the course of justice with dedication, hard work and patience.
Bawa appreciated the Governor, the Chief Judge of the state and the entire judiciary for their contributions, interest and commitment to the judicial system of the state.
Justice Aishatu Wodu Bawa who was born on 10th October 1965 in Kutigi, Lavun Local Government, started her journey in the Judiciary in 1995 when she was appointed as Associate Magistrate where she excelled and rose through various positions.
While Justice Isaac Ndagana Jiya was born in 1983 in the Gbako Local Government Area of the state with work experience in various organisations including the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) where he held the position of Assistant Chief Superintendent from 2009 to his recent appointment.
Khadi Shehu Yunusa was born on the 25th of September 1966 in Agaie while Khadi Mohammed Isah Dalibi was born on the 16th 9f February 1974 in Kontagora.
They held various positions in the state Judiciary before their recent promotion in the state.
Afterwards, the governor presented the four newly appointed High Court Judges and Khadis of Shariah Court of Appeal with their official cars.
