New Committee Re-Constituted For NBA Bori Branch Elections
A 3-man committee, again has been reconstituted to screen and conduct the election of the Nigerian Bar Association Bori branch.
The new team are former Secretary NBA, Warri Branch Sunny Emuveyan, who will serve as the chairman, Secretary, Sagbama branch, Ebiere E. Ekpese, will be committee’s Secretary, while Orluorlu Chigozi Gerald of Port Harcourt branch as member.
This was disclosed in a statement by the 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association John Aikpokpo and made available to TheNigerialawyer.
The team is to conduct the election strictly in accordance with the extant provisions of the NBA Uniform Byelaws.
His statement reads: “The Executive Committee of the branch and the Mr. Christian Mark are hereby directed to submit all the relevant documents to the said team upon demand to enable for a free and fair process.
“The said documents may include the bank details of the months of January to March for the years, 2020, 2021 and 2022; minutes of past monthly meetings from April 2021 to June, 2022 and nomination documents of the candidates as submitted to the election committee led by Christian Mark.
“Any person who has any objection to the candidature of any of the candidates is at liberty to indicate to the team not later than on Sunday 5pm on Sunday, the 7th of August, 2022.
“The email address to send objections to shall be provided soon.
“The register of voters will be displayed in this WhatsApp group before the election.”
Aikpokpo, therefore urged all members to keenly observe and participate in the process.
“Unruly behaviour by any member will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to refer any person who acts in a manner unbecoming of a lawyer to the appropriate body for disciplinary action.
“Lastly, the members of the team will be joined to this group so that information can be communicated directly to avoid misinterpretations.”
Recall that the National Executive Committee cancelled all the elections purportedly held in the branch and ordered for fresh elections.
A 3-man team was constituted to conduct the screening and election from amongst the candidates who submitted nominations forms to the Christian Mark led election committee.
However, some candidates raised concerns about the composition of the team.
