The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the appointment of a five-member Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of its Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL).

The caretaker committee of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Section of Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL) was inaugurated on March 4, 2024. This development comes after the Nigerian Bar Association National Executive Council ordered the immediate removal of the previous Executive Committee during their meeting held on February 29, 2024, in Jos Plateau state.

The caretaker committee, composed of distinguished members, has been entrusted with overseeing SPIDEL’s affairs.

In a notice dated March 4, 2024, and signed by the NBA General Secretary, Adesina Adegbite, the Caretaker Committee comprising Steve Adehi, SAN (Chairman), Yakubu Philemon, SAN (Alternate Chairman), Ben Oji (Secretary), Ronke Adeyemi (Member), and Eva Amadi (Treasurer) was officially inaugurated by the NBA President.

The notice stated that the erstwhile Executive Committee led by John Aikpokpo-Martins (Chairman) and Funmi Adeogun (Secretary), along with all other members, “no longer have authority to act in that capacity either for themselves, the NBA-SPIDEL or the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).”
