NBA 2022 Election: Maikyau Emerges As NBA President-Elect
As voting in the much awaited NBA Elections finally ended at midnight, the candidates who names of victorious candidates for the various National offices have emerged as the camps of the newly elected candidates bubble with joy and jubilation.
The Lawyer can verify from a reliable source at the Election Situation Room that Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN at the end of voting has emerged as the newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association pulling a massive 22,342 votes followed by Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN who polled 10,842, with Jonathan Taidi coming behind with 1380 votes.
The elected officials for other offices are as follows:
Lynda Bala Rose — 1st Vice President
Clement Chukwuemeka — 2nd Vice President
Ade Adegbite — General Secretary
Daniel Kip. — Assistant Sec.
Caroline Ladidi Bishop — Treasurer
Habib Lawal — Publicity Secretary
Ajiboye Charles Olawale — Assistant Publicity Secretary
Chineye Obasi — Welfare Secretary
According to a notice from the Electoral Committee of the NBA, the official results will be declared this morning by 7am at the NBA Institute building, 9, Oro Ago Crescent, Garki 312, Abuja FCT.

Meanwhile, the Candidate for the position of the President, J-K Gadzama SAN has appreciated his supporters for what he tagged as heartwarming towards his cause of going for the NBA President, and has charged them them to remain calm amidst complaints about the election.
In a letter of appreciation, made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, and dated 16th July, 2022, J-K Gadzama SAN expressed his utmost gratitude to his supporters for their steadfast support to his efforts of going for NBA President. He stated thus: “I write to express my utmost gratitude to you for all your unquantifiable contributions towards my attempt to be elected as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (‘NBA’) on Saturday, July 16, 2022. We would not have achieved the mileage we gained without your support and steadfastness.”
He expressed his thankfulness for his supporters constant call and messages that swamped in all through the election process. His words read in part thus: “I have received numerous calls and messages from hundreds of supporters who I deeply appreciate and cherish. Your support throughout the process has truly been heartwarming and appreciated.”
Speaking on the controversies and complaints surrounding the election process, Gadzama SAN urged his supporters to remain calm thus: “Even though we have numerous complaints regarding the conduct of the election, I request that you all remain calm during this season and pledge your loyalty to the Bar. I salute you all for your support, once again.
Thank you.”
