The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the alleged extortion of a motorist by ASP Luka Bashayi from the Ogudu Area Command on Saturday.

A video circulating on social media captures the officer instructing the driver to pay N10,000 promptly, with the driver responding that he doesn’t have the money.

The officer is also heard mentioning some digits in the video.

The viral video, posted on X on Saturday, sparked outrage, with the caption sarcastically praising the officer as a “hardworking Nigeria police officer.” In response, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa

Adejobi condemned the behaviour, stating, “This is not allowed, so shameful. We need more info about this. We will fish him out.”

Providing updates on the matter, the Lagos State Police PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the command’s Complaint Response Unit has commenced investigations into the incident.

Hundeyin emphasized that they would not overlook the situation and identified the officer involved as ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command.

He concluded by stating, “Meanwhile,#Lagos_PoliceCRU has commenced actions on this.”
