Lagos NSCDC Storms Three Illegal Private Guard Companies, Arrests Offenders
The Private Guard Company (PGC) Department, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has stopped three Illegal PGCs, as a result of the offence of quackery and other similar offences in the industry.
The Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC), Seun Abolurin, in a statement, yesterday, said the PGCs found in this act of quackery, in the state, after thorough search and investigation. Those investigated include: Divine Assurance Security; Herisco Security and City Guard Limited.
He said the above investigation led to the arrest of one Lucky Ofuma (male), a supposed Managing Director, Divine Assurance Security and one of his employees, John Ambrose Vallah, ‘m’, as others had fled and deserted their premises, an act confirming their level of culpability.
According to him, officers and men of the PGC Department of the Command, headed by Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Eze Onyegbula, made this arrest with the help of actionable and credible intelligence from the good people of the state.
The state Commandant, Edenabu Okoro Eweka, while addressing newsmen in his office, said: “It is very important for would be employers of private guards to confirm the authenticity of such company first, before engaging their staff.
“I appeal to well meaning citizens of the state and country not to patronise quacks in the private security industry.
“This is because amongst other things, quackery also leads to dwindling revenues of the government as well as discourages genuine efforts of good, disciplined and quality companies in the industry.”
