The Lagos State Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Pst. Dr. (Mrs) Dayo Ekong, has held a crucial meeting with the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and other political party leaders to discuss preparations for the upcoming local government elections.

The high-level engagement took place on Tuesday at LASIEC’s headquarters in Yaba, where Ekong met with Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), Chairperson of LASIEC, and other key stakeholders. The discussions centered on election guidelines, transparency, and ensuring a credible electoral process.

Ekong emphasized the Labour Party’s commitment to a free, fair, and inclusive election, urging LASIEC to uphold democratic principles.

“We had in-depth discussions on critical issues, including the official guidelines for the elections,” she stated. “As a party, we are dedicated to a transparent process that reflects the will of the people. We call on all stakeholders to work together for peaceful and credible polls.”

The meeting also provided an opportunity for cross-party dialogue, with leaders from other political parties in attendance. Ekong stressed the importance of unity and cooperation among all parties to ensure smooth elections.

With the discussions concluded, political parties now await the final release of LASIEC’s election guidelines, which will shape campaign and voting procedures.
