Lagos Arraigns Pastor For Allegedly Raping, Impregnating Daughter
The Lagos State Government has arraigned a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Emmanuel Orekoya, before the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja.
He was arraigned before Justice Abiola Soladoye for allegedly raping and impregnating his 17- year-old daughter.
The state government slammed two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and sexual assault against the defendant.
In November 2022, the daughter of the Pastor had called him out in viral video for molestation and allegedly raping her several times when she was a minor.
She had also said that she committed abortion for her father more than 5 times. She said all efforts to stop him including reporting him to some human rights organizations and RCCG members failed.
According to her, “my mother begged me to stop reporting my father again that he will stop unfortunately this wicked man didn’t stop, till he raped me on the 15th of November 2022”.
At the arraignment, the state’s prosecution counsel, Mrs Abimbola Abolade, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2017 at their residence in Jacob Adeleye Street, Odo-Eran in the Itire area of Lagos State.
The prosecutor also told the court that Orekoya sexually assaulted the victim by inserting his finger inside her vagina and inserting his penis inside her mouth.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Section 137 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
Justice Soladoye has adjourned till April 17, for the commencement of trial.
