JUSUN Directs Members To Join NLC/TUC Nationwide Strike
The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has instructed all its branches and chapters to comply with the indefinite nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
In a statement issued on November 14, 2023, JUSUN’s National General Secretary, Comrade M.A. Adetola, stated that the directive follows the resolution of the NLC/TUC joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on November 13, 2023.
Consequently, JUSUN has mandated its members across the country to remain at home until they receive further directives. This is part of the larger industrial action embarked upon by NLC and TUC over unresolved issues with the Federal Government.
Some of the demands raised by the labour unions include implementation of the minimum wage, worsening insecurity, brutality against workers, corruption and poor governance.
The statement signed by Adetola on behalf of JUSUN’s National President, Comrade Marwan Mustapha, was addressed to all Vice Presidents, Chairmen and Secretaries of the union’s branches and chapters nationwide.
JUSUN is therefore fully complying with the NLC/TUC’s strike directive, having deemed the issues raised by the unions as critical and needing urgent government action. The nationwide strike is expected to commence anytime soon after the labour’s ultimatum to government expires.
