The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Ekaete-Obot has released the Certified True Copy of the proceedings of High Court No 1, Uyo Judicial Division Akwa Ibom State that led to the committal of a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong for contempt of court..

Mr Effiong is handling a case for his client before Justice Obot’s court in Uyo and disclosed that the CTC of the proceedings has been released to him.

CTC OF PROCEEDINGS IN EFFIONG MATTER

The certified true copy of the record of proceedings has been made available 21 days after the conviction of Inibehe Effiong for contempt of court and this runs contrary to Sections 36(7) and 294(1) of the Constitution which stipulate that the parties to a cause or matter be furnished with duly authenticated copies of the decision of a trial court within seven days of the delivery thereof.

The release of the CTC comes barely 48 hours after Inibehe Effiong sued the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State over her refusal to release the record of proceedings for the hearing where she committed him for contempt.
