Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested one Ulagu  Chukwuma for allegedly masterminding the kidnap of his boss’ 12-year-old son on February 12, in Jabi, Abuja.

The FCT Police Command had on Thursday announced the arrest of one of the gang leaders of a kidnap syndicate earlier paraded by the command on February 14, 2024, Saidu Abdulkadir, popularly known as Dahiru Adamu, alongside another suspect of a kidnap syndicate.

In a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Sunday, the police said the suspect was a domestic worker who served as a chef with the Nwakwo family and was arrested by officers of the Utako Police Divisional Headquarters.

The statement read in part, “Investigations by the police revealed that the principal suspect, who has since confessed to the crime, conspired with one McDonald Arinze, currently at large, to commit the crime.

“The suspects had earlier obtained N3.9m as ransom from the victim’s father.

“The arm of the law, however, caught up with the criminals following intensified efforts by the police. The boy was rescued unhurt and reunited with his parents. The cash sum earlier extorted was equally recovered.”
