Emeka Nwajiuba’s Resignation Prompted Buhari’s Order To Other Ministers
One of the Ministers eyeing the seat of President Muhammadu Buhari has resigned.
President Muhammadu Buhari made this known during the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
He announced that Emeka Nwajuiba, Minister of State for Education, had quit the cabinet to focus on his presidential ambition.
Buhari has given all those interested in the 2023 contest a deadline of Monday to leave his government on or before Monday the 16th of May, 2022.”
When asked if the directive affects the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who is vying for the post of President, the Information Minister, said “the Vice President was elected, he was not appointed.”
Mr Buhari’s directive was made known on the day the Court of Appeal conditionally validated a section of the electoral law that mandates political office holders like ministers to resign before they can contest for elections or vote in party primaries.
