Court Sends APGA Leader Njoku to Prison

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, on Monday, remanded a factional leader of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Edozie Njoku and one Chukwuemeka Nwoga in prison for alleged forgery.

Recall that the police authorities had earlier accused Njoku and Nwoga of forging a Supreme Court letter which reinstated them as the national chairman and national youth leader of APGA as against the chairmanship of Chief Victor Oye.

Justice Mohammed Madugu had last week issued a bench warrant on the duo for failing to appear before the court.

The defence lawyer, Panam Ntui, argued their bail application shortly after they pleaded not guilty to a 14-count charge filed in the name of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

But at the resumed hearing, the court vacated the bench warrant and upheld the opposition mounted by the prosecution counsel, Ezekiel Rimasonte against the bail application by the defence lawyer on the matter.

In a ruling on Monday, Justice Mohammed Magudu, ordered Njoku and his co-defendant, Chukwuemeka Nwoga to be remanded in the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State until he would rule on their bail application on 30th of November.
