Court Reserves Judgment on Suit Seeking to Disqualify APC Candidates in Rivers
A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has reserved judgment on a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State against State House of Assembly Candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
When the matter resumed for hearing on Friday, counsels representing the parties presented, argued and adopted their final written addresses.
Presiding Judge, Justice Adamu Turaki-Mohammed after listening to the parties, reserved the judgment on a later date which he said will be communicated to the parties.
The PDP is seeking the disqualification of all the State House of Assembly candidates of APC in the 2023 elections for “violating” the electoral act in the conduct of their primaries and party congresses.
In a separate suit, the PDP is also seeking the disqualification of all the National Assembly candidates of APC for also “violating” the electoral act.
The PDP is claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not monitor their primaries and that the congresses that brought them were faulty.
However, hearing is yet to commence on the suit seeking to disqualify all the National Assembly candidates of APC following petition and protest against the judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam.
