Court Remands Robber for Stealing, Raping Woman
An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, has remanded a 24-year-old man, Onyeka Nwanfor, for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman, and using a fake gun to rob one Henry Ajayi of eight phones valued at N5m.
Magistrate Mrs. E. Kubenje made the order after the defendant who is facing four counts bordering on robbery and rape was arraigned by the police.
The prosecutor, ASP Ola Olasiyan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 20, 2022.
He said the defendant allegedly used one revolver pistol toy gun to rob one Henry Ajayi of eight varieties of phones valued at five million naira and also had sexual intercourse with a 30-year-old woman in the Magodo area of the state.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Sections 299, 297(1), 298(3) and 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge read, “That you, Onyeka Nwanfor, and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did rape a woman, 30, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenje, did not take the plea of the defendant.
Kubenje remanded Nwanfor in a correctional facility in the state.
The case was adjourned till March 28, for mention.
