The 2023/2024 legal year has commenced with the Court of Appeal holding a special court session on Monday.

The legal year ceremony is a long-established tradition ushering in the new legal year and also provides an opportunity for justices to reflect on the successes and challenges of the previous year, review them, and explore what lies ahead.

The session has in attendance the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola; retired Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, justices of the Court of Appeal, and heads of courts.

Also in attendance are the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Others are the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Barau Jibrin; Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Oluwole Oke; President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau; and Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).
