Boy With Missing Intestines Dies at LASUTH

The 12-year-old boy with missing intestines, Adebola Akin-Bright, who has been receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, has died.

Adebola died on Tuesday evening, according to reports.

He was to be flown abroad for an intestine transplant to get him back to normal before he breathed his last today.

Adebola had surgery at a private hospital in the Alimosho area of the state known as Obitoks Medical Centre, but it was later discovered that his intestines were missing.

The Lagos State House of Assembly had on Tuesday asked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to provide funds for his treatment outside the country.

“We made some shocking discoveries in the course of our investigation. The incident is very unusual, but we want the boy to survive, and we know Mr Speaker is very interested in his survival too.

“We went to LASUTH on the directives of the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, to find out the health status of Adebola Akin-Bright.

“The hospital told us that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had taken care of the bill for his treatment at LASUTH,” the Chairman of the ad hoc committee of the state parliament mandated to investigate the matter, Mr Noheem Adams, had said when he submitted his preliminary report to his colleagues during plenary today.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, later called for the arrest of the doctor who performed the surgery on the deceased.
