Ataga’s Murder: Case Stalls Over Prosecution Witness Absence
The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, before a Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square was on Thursday stalled at the instance of the prosecution.
Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, is standing trial for the alleged murder of Ataga.
She is also charged with stealing and forgery alongside one Adedapo Quadri and her sister, Chioma Egbuchu.
At the resumed hearing of the matter on Tuesday, which was slated for trial within trial, the case could not go on as one of the police officers, ASP Funke Madeyinlo, who was part of the team that arrested and interrogated the first defendant, was absent from court.
The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs Adenike Oluwafemi, apologised to the court and said the witness called to inform her that she was out of jurisdiction and asked the court for an adjournment.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned the case till November 15 for continuation of trial.
