The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday re-elected Dr. Isaacs Kekemeke as South-West Zonal Chairman at the party’s zonal congress attended by delegates from across the region.
Kekemeke emerged through a consensus arrangement ratified by a voice vote alongside other members of the zonal executive committee during the exercise, which attracted 3,188 delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo states.
The congress was marked by renewed commitments from party leaders and stakeholders to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, with delegates pledging to secure the highest possible votes for the party in the South-West.

The congress was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos Island, and attracted several APC dignitaries, including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State.

In his acceptance speech, Kekemeke expressed confidence in the party’s strength in the South-West, assuring members of improved performance by the zonal leadership and projecting victories for the APC in the 2027 governorship elections in Osun, Ekiti and Oyo states.
Speaking on behalf of South-West APC governors, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the peaceful conduct of the congress, describing it as a demonstration of political maturity and unity within the region.
He also acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in monitoring the process, noting that the exercise complied with provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act.
“Today, we have seen the conduct of a free and fair election, following the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act. This congress shows that the South-West is united and a formidable political bloc,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Chairman of the Zonal Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, said the congress upheld the progressive political tradition of the South-West and confirmed that the process complied fully with electoral guidelines. The APC National Secretary, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, represented by the party’s National Youth Leader, Dr. Dayo Israel, congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to work collectively toward delivering electoral victories for the party in 2027.
Statutory delegates at the congress included zonal chairmen, former officeholders, serving and former governors, members of the National Assembly, state party chairmen, National Executive Committee members and other national convention delegates.
