Police operatives from Ogidi Division in Anambra State have arrested the vigilante commander of Ojoto community and two others for the kidnap and murder of a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) operator, Christian Oluchukwu Onah.

The late 25-year-old Onah, from Ovoko community in Igbo-Eze South LGA of Enugu State, residing in Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, was declared missing on May 28, 2023, when he failed to return after the day’s business.

It was learnt that his neighbour raised alarm over his whereabouts and subsequently reported to the police.

Meanwhile, the owner of the tricycle which Onah was riding on a hire-purchase had placed a tracker on it which led to the arrest of a man in possession of the missing tricycle.

On interrogation, the man confessed to having bought the Keke from the Ojoto community vigilante operatives.

Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Emmanuel Onah, while lamenting that the perpetrators had refused to disclose where they buried his son, called for a thorough investigation to fish out all who had a hand in the killing and total justice over the murder.

He also appealed to the police for diligent prosecution to lead to the recovery of his son’s body.

When contacted, the state’s police spokesman, Ikenga Tochi, who confirmed the incident, said suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime, noting that the police were still investigating.
